Daikin Industries has introduced the Green Heart Factory (GHF) system globally across all its factories. Green Heart Factory (GHF) is a company-wide initiative by Daikin aimed at reducing the environmental impact of each factory through strategic and systematic efforts.
The system encourages employees to actively contribute to sustainability by creating factories that produce environmentally friendly products.
The concept of a Green Heart Factory combines environmental responsibility (“Green”) with social involvement (“Heart”), promoting a culture where every individual plays a role. This effort aligns with Daikin’s Global effort at becoming Carbon Neutral by 2050 worldwide.
Key components of this Daikin initiative include visualizing environmental activities through measurable targets, recognizing high-performing factories, and promoting improvements across all locations.
The benefits are broad: managers can ensure stable operations by minimizing legal and environmental risks, build stronger community relations, and improve external evaluations; environmental promoters gain insight into company strengths and weaknesses using real data; and all employees can increase their awareness of environmental issues through positive, competitive engagement.
Ultimately, GHF supports Daikin’s goal of being a leader in sustainability while fostering a sense of shared responsibility across the organization.
Daikin America’s Decatur plant achieved “Silver” status in 2025 and is the North American leader in GHF across all divisions of Daikin. A key part of DAI’s success is our focus on sustainability projects, like greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction.
In 2024, DAI reduced our plant GHG emissions by 40% through a significant capital investment.
With “Silver” in hand, DAI has now our sights set on achieving “Gold” status in the next few years and defending our title as the best Daikin GHF plant in North America. It’s a lofty goal but one that DAI is committed to achieve.
