Daikin America, Inc. awarded $18,000 in scholarships to eight winners at this year’s Unity Breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Demetrice White and Dave Johnson announced the winners and shared some of the goals the recipients have for their careers.
The scholarship program, now in its 20th year, helps promising young students meet the costs of a college education.
This year’s winners:
Tyron Hubbard – Freshman at Alabama A&M Univ. – majoring in Music – Tyron’s goal is to become a high school Band Director – $1,000.
Wyatt Earth Millwood – Sophomore at UAH – majoring in Political Science – Wyatt’s goal is to become a criminal defense attorney – $1,000.
Lauryn Birt – will be a Freshman at Auburn Univ. – majoring in Kinesiology & Physical Therapy – Lauryn’s goal is to strengthen and rehabilitate those who suffer from injuries and limited mobility – $2,000.
Kennedi Davis – will be a Freshman at Calhoun Community College – majoring in Business – Kennedi aspires to own her own business someday – $2,000.
Tamari Boulden – Senior at Tuskegee Univ. – majoring in Business – Tamari’s goal is to work for a fortune 100 company in supply chain management – $3,000.
Mackenzi Byrd – Junior at Alabama A & M University – majoring in Supply Chain/Logistics – Mackenzi’s goal is to work in the defense industry – $3,000.
Joshua Clay – Sophomore at UAH – majoring in Mechanical Engineering – Joshua’s aspires to work as a Mechanical Engineer after graduating – $3,000.
Angel Morrow – Junior at Alabama A & M University – majoring in Construction Engineering – Angel’s desire is to work in the construction industry with the ultimate goal of starting her own construction company – $3,000.
