Daikin Employee’s Blood Donations Save Many Lives

Daikin employees giving blood at the LifeSouth Blood Drive

Over the last three years, employees at Daikin’s Decatur facility have donated enough blood to save more than 700 lives, based on estimates provided by LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

Each unit of whole blood has the potential to save as many as three lives.

A total of 243 units of blood have been donated by Daikin workers from 2019 through 2021.

Blood transfusions not only benefit those involved in an accident. Cancer patients, for example, need to put platelets back into the body after intensive treatments like chemo or radiation therapy.

Without them, cancer patients may find they cannot make enough platelets in the bone marrow, which can lead to chronic diseases that affect key bodily organs, like the kidneys, liver, and spleen.

Many thanks to all who gave blood or helped staff the event. Your donation makes all the difference to those who need blood or blood products.
