Imagine knowing your family doesn’t have the resources to ensure you get that bicycle you’ve been wanting for Christmas, only to discover a bike under the tree on Christmas morning.
That’s the experience made possible by Daikin employees who begin working before Thanksgiving to make it possible.
Employees begin collecting bicycles and monetary donations to buy bicycles each Thanksgiving weekend as a gift for area children who are not likely to get one for Christmas.
For the last seventeen years, Daikin volunteers have delivered bikes to the Neighborhood Christian Center and Salvation Army in Decatur and to the Muscle Shoals Baptist Association in Lawrence County.
In 2019, a remarkable 428 children were gifted bicycles thanks to their efforts.
Since the program’s inception more than 2,500 bikes have been provided.
Many thanks to all the employees and contractors who donated to this important effort. Your generosity and hard work truly made a difference in the lives of deserving children in our area.
And special thanks to Scott Stamps and Todd Bumar in the Gas Plant for spearheading the effort this year, with support from their managers, Todd Waller and Justin Wagnon.
