The Daikin Spirit of America Golf Classic was held June 26-29 at Burningtree Country Club. As the title sponsor, Daikin is granted the honor each year of designating half of the tournament proceeds to a charity of its’ choice. Last year, Daikin selected HANDS Across Decatur; a local charity who does great work with our local homeless community.
This year, the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene throughout neighboring Tennessee and North Carolina in late September mobilized many from North Alabama into disaster relief roles; including Andy Villareal; the owner of Burningtree County Club. Burningtree committed their half of the Spirit proceeds to Hurricane Relief and Daikin supported Andy’s effort by donating our part as well.
As part of a team from North Alabama, Andy spent over a week in Fairview, North Carolina cooking meals for displaced residents and first responders, handing out needed supplies, and providing gift cards to the residents in need. The pictures below show Andy working in the field as well as some of the local devastation.
Daikin is proud of our partnership with Andy Villareal and Burningtree Country Club in hosting the Spirit of America Golf Classic and thankful to contribute $10,000 to relief efforts in North Carolina. We wish them all the best in their continued recovery effort.
